During the Covid 19 pandemic we have had to make changes to our appointment bookings to ensure the safety of our patients & staff. All of our GP & Emergency Health Practitioner appointments will be booked for you as a telephone appointment regardless of your problem. If the Clinician you speak to decides it will be necessary and safe for you to have a further face to face consultation they will arrange this with you.
If you have an ongoing condition, it is advisable to try to continue to speak to the same doctor for that condition. We believe this offers you important continuity of care and allows you and your doctor to get to know each other well. Children are likely to feel less threatened if they know one or two doctors well.
Medical emergencies will always be dealt with on the same day
If you require an urgent GP or Emergency Care Practitioner appointment within the next few days we recommend that you use our Dr Link symptom checker to book an appointment. This will save you having to phone the surgery and wait in a queue to speak to a receptionist, once you have completed the questions on the Dr Link symptom checker if appropriate, you will be given an option to request an appointment. This request will be sent through to our reception team who will contact you (usually via text message) with an appointment

The practice operates multiple telephone lines into the surgery, with a queuing system. Our telephone lines get very busy especially on Monday (all day) and before 11am on all other mornings– Please try to avoid these times if possible.
To save telephoning the surgery - Use Dr Link for urgent appointments or Online booking is available for routine GP telephone consultations
Requests for emergency and same day appointments are dealt with as they come in throughout the day. The only real need to call early is to book a home visit. This should be made before 11am and a GP will assess if a home visit is necessary. Please remember that a doctor can see five patients in the time taken for one visit.
The Reception Team answering your calls are all trained and work within guidelines agreed by the doctors. They do a difficult job and we ask you to bear this in mind. At the request of the doctors, they will ask you some basic details regarding your needs to ensure you are given an appointment with the right person for the right length of time. This is entirely confidential and helps us run the system efficiently and effectively which is in all of our interests.

- It is really important that you see (or talk to) the same doctor if they are dealing with a particular problem. This continuity of care helps you to get the best care. It is worth waiting to see the right person

- Did you know you can also order repeat prescriptions, access test results, and check your records online to save you having to phone the Surgery
Your GP or nurse run their face to face clinics on 10 minutes appointments. This means that they have to deal with each patients problems including taking a history, examination, prescriptions & explanations within 10 minutes. They also have to write up the notes all within 10 minutes.
If patients are severely ill then this can take us longer and you would agree that the most severely ill patients should get as much time as they need.
If you arrive late this eats into your time. It is also unfair on the Doctor who then has to run late and on subsequent patients who have arrived on time.
If you have missed your appointment it is at the discretion of the GP/Nurse as to whether they will see you. I am sure you would agree that subsequent patients should not be short changed because you have arrived late
During the Covid19 pandemic please do not arrive more then 5 minutes prior to a face to face appointment. This is to allow social distancing in our waiting area. (If you do arrive early you will be asked to wait outside)
