Travel Vaccination Information

If you are travelling abroad, you may need vaccinations to protect yourself against country-specific risks. You must contact the surgery at least 6 weeks prior to your departure date( max 3m and min 6w). This allows time for a comprehensive clinical assessment and for any vaccines to take full effect.

How the Process Works:

1.Request an Appointment: Contact reception to book your travel consultation. You will be given a pre-travel risk assessment questionnaire to complete.

2. Clinical Review: Please complete the questionnaire immediately. Our clinical team will assess your itinerary against official TravelHealthPro( NaTHNaC - Home)  guidelines and your medical records to determine your exact needs.

3. NHS Vaccinations: During your appointment, we will offer and administer the travel vaccines provided free of charge on the NHS to protect public health. These are:

Tetanus (given as a combined diphtheria/tetanus/polio jab)- NaTHNaC - Tetanus

Typhoid- NaTHNaC - Typhoid fever

Hepatitis A- NaTHNaC - Hepatitis A

Cholera-  NaTHNaC - Cholera

4. Private Vaccinations & Malaria Prevention: Not all travel health services are covered by the NHS. If you require private vaccinations (such as Yellow Fever or Rabies) or malaria prevention medication, we will advise you of this during the process. You will need to arrange these independently through a local pharmacy or private travel clinic.

 Important Note: Oral Cholera Vaccine

If your assessment shows you need the oral Cholera vaccine, a member of our team will call you prior to your appointment. You must strictly avoid eating or drinking for one hour before and one hour after taking this vaccine.
